Lance Giroux,  Founder & Managing Director

 

Mr. Lance Giroux, a 1972 graduate from West Point, began his career in the field of leadership and human potential training in the mid-1970's, and served as a senior executive for a major international training company through 1995. During those two decades he: developed curriculum; recruited, trained and led instructional staffs; and personally facilitated hundreds of conferences, retreats and seminars.

 

 Lance founded Allied Ronin in 1994, tailoring leadership programs for organizations and individuals.  In 2001 his work expanded into the business school arena beginning with the University of San Francisco, where he taught the core MBA leadership course, facilitated retreats and lectured in the EMBA, PMBA and MSIS programs.  Since then he has presented leadership programs and lectured at Oklahoma State University, Westminster College and the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and has presented at annual Organizational Behavior Teaching Conferences.   He serves worldwide as the administrator and sole training and certification representative for The Samurai Game® <www.SamuraiGame.org>, the powerful team and leadership simulation created by George Leonard and owned by the Leonard Trust.

 

His work includes: The Art of Practice, The Mental Game, Leadership - Our Most Pressing Need, Rising Above Conflict.  His published articles are: "Listening To The Message Behind The Words", "Getting Down There With Your Kids", "Earth to Mom, Earth to Dad"  and "A Ronin Reflects on the Samurai Game".

Kathleen Kane, Ph.D.

 

Dr. Kathy Kane is a professor of management and leadership at the School of Business and Management, University of San Francisco.  A Phi Beta Kapa from Mills College, she received her Masters in Psychology and her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior at Claremont Graduate University, where she studied with Peter Drucker at the Drucker School of Management.  Her expertise is Leadership, Organizational Dynamics, Management, and Cross-Cultural Awareness.

Mr. Leonard is a pioneer in the field of the human potential, and the author of many books, including The Transformation, Education and Ecstasy, The Ultimate Athlete, The Silent Pulse and Mastery. His 1995 book, The Life We Are Given, co-authored with Esalen founder Michael Murphy, reports on a two-year experimental class in Integral Transformative Practice (ITP) created by the authors for realizing the potential of body, mind, heart and soul. The Stanford University School of Medicine is studying the effectiveness of ITP <www.ITP-International.org> in enhancing health and well-being. His latest book, The Way of Aikido: Life Lessons from an American Sensei, was published in June 1999.

 

A native of Georgia, Mr. Leonard received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina and Doctor of Humanities degrees from Lewis and Clark College and John F. Kennedy University. He served with the U.S. Air Force as a combat pilot in the South Pacific during World War II and as an intelligence officer and magazine editor during the Korean War. From 1953 to 1970 he was a senior editor for Look Magazine.  George holds a fifth-degree black belt in Aikido, and is co-owner of a martial arts school in northern California <www.tam-aikido.org>. 
 

He is founder of Leonard Energy Training (LET), a transformative practice inspired by Aikido, which he has introduced to some 50,000 people in the U.S. and abroad. He is a past-president of the Association of Humanistic Psychology, and is president emeritus of Esalen Institute <www.esalen.com>.

Dr. Richard Strozzi-Heckler, is President and Cofounder, Strozzi Institute, and one of today's leaders in the pragmatic application of embodied learning in Corporate America. For more than 35 years he has worked with thousands of people in the disciplines of language, psychology, action, and business.  He has a Ph.D. in Psychology, and holds a sixth-degree black belt in the martial art of Aikido.  He also holds ranks in the martial arts of judo, jujitsu and capoeira.  In addition to Strozzi Institute he is cofounder of Tamalpais Aikido Dojo, Two Rock Aikido Dojo, and the Lomi School.

 

Richard is the author of a number of books including; In Search Of The Warrior Spirit, Holding The Center, The Anatomy Of Change and Aikido And The New Warrior.  He has been published in Esquire, East West Journal, Somatics, The Sun, The Whole Earth Review, Full Contact, Contact Quarterly, Aikido Today Magazine, and numerous other publications. Ms. Ariana Strozzi is Cofounder of Strozzi Institute.  She received her BA in Zoology from the University of California Davis where she specialized in Animal Behavior Systems and Wildlife Ecology. Ariana works with businesses and individuals to develop effective communication processes, generative focus skills, team and leadership competencies, conflict resolution strategies, integrity and trust.   She has developed the powerful metaphor of working with horses to develop mastery and interrelational skills.  Her Leadership & Horses™ and Somatic Horsemanship™ programs focus on developing a centered presence, communication, listening, authenticity, vision, intention, balance and intuition.

 

Ariana owned and operated several small businesses before cofounding Strozzi Institute.  She is also an accomplished artist.  Her illustrations have been published in several magazines and book covers.  <www.leadershipandhorses.com>

Gene Barton, Ph.D.

Dr. Gene Barton is a 1972 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He received his Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Fairleigh Dickenson, and his Ph.D. in Computer Architecture from the University of Texas. He served with the U.S. Army for 22 years before retiring as a Colonel and forming Paradigm Systems, Inc.<www.para-sys.com>. 

 

Gene has more than 30 years of experience in the analysis and design of computer architectures and the development of associated applications. He has been a pioneer in the development of innovative software applications in a variety of fields.  He has created unique products to support leadership development, including the popular   SBPT™ 360-degree profile, and PulseCheck™ survey.

 

He is an expert in computer systems, project management, processes analysis, and control systems, with knowledge encompassing all aspects. He has built systems literally from the transistor through the operating system level.  His ability to understand and solve problems has breadth as well as depth.  Gene is frequently called upon to assess and design systems. His analyses and predictions are accurate, provably correct, and understandable to management.

Judi Neal, Ph.D.

  

Dr. Judi Neal received her Ph.D. from Yale University in Organizational Behavior and was a manager of Organizational Development at Honeywell for a number of years. She left the corporate world to teach management at the University of New Haven and to run her own consulting firm for eleven years. Judi is now the Executive Director of The Association for Spirit at Work, a non-profit membership organization that supports personal and organizational transformation through coaching, education, research, speaking, and publications.

 

Judi is on the Boards of Directors of several professional, community, and academic organizations. She is the author of The Four Gateways to Spirit at Work, and has published numerous scholarly publications. <www.fourgateways.com>

Madeline Wade www.MadelineWade.com is a certified Master Somatic Coach with a private practice specializing in serving business managers, individuals in transition and persons working to improve their physical health.  She draws from twenty-five years as a leader in the corporate world including her recent position heading all procurement efforts for Fair Isaac Corporation.  Since 1998 she has studied directly under Dr. Richard Strozzi-Heckler, founder of Strozzi Institute.

Madeline’s commitment is to assist clients in two specific areas: (1) being effective observers of self; and (2) being powerful instruments of change.  She supports individuals in identifying their natural strengths and transforming their self-limiting beliefs and habits. Mr. Robert Baguio is an experienced operations and administrative consultant. He specializes in leadership, communication, mediation and people development skills. His experience includes: President of a commercial real estate management company, marketing Native American gaming, General Manager of a tribal gaming casino in Northern California, eighteen years as a police officer, and eighteen years designing and facilitating seminars and trainings involving the human potential.  He is the founder of Baguio Synergy Methods and Trainings.

 

Mr. Baguio is a Native American Pomo band member holding a tribal number. He has extensive business experience throughout the United States and the Philippines. He is recognized for excellence in multicultural interactions, and interpersonal and communication skills.

Ms. Andi Burgis is Founder and Owner of Challenge U,  http://www.Challenge-U.com, and adventure based training company, specifically designed to bring teambuilding training to organizations.  She began working in the field of experiential education and the human potential in 1990, and founded Challenge-U in 1997.  She offers a strong background in communication, teambuilding, team development program design, challenge course management, training and development of experiential facilitators, coaching and management skills.  Her ability to effectively relate to people and quickly establish trust with others are truly her biggest gifts.

 

Andi is considered an expert at executing both safe and valuable challenge course programs.  Her clients include: Mc Donald's Corporation - Palumbo Enterprises, American Express, Boeing, Lindora Inc, SAIC, Qualcomm, Irvine Apartment Management Company, A T & T , Hamilton Sundstrand Aerospace, ST Microelectronics, Robert F. Pawel Olesiak and Pawel Bernas

 

In January 2000 Pawel Olesiak and Pawel Bernas founded Aiki-Management www.Aiki-Management.pl in Krakow, Poland.  Since then they have served organizations throughout Poland with executive coaching and communication and project management training.  Their work primarily focuses on assisting sales and managerial staffs and boards of directors.  Their offerings are built on a foundation of over fifty years combined experience practicing and teaching Aikido, plus study and certificates in Neuro Linguistic Programming, Educational Kinesiology (Paul Dennison), and Being in Movement (Paul Linden).

 

Mr. Olesiak holds a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, and lives with his wife and three children in Krakow.  Mr. Bernas holds a degree in EU Marketing and Project Management from the European Academy of Management, Stuttgart.  He, his wife and two children live in Kalwaria Zebrzydowski. 

 

In addition to Polish they are conversationally proficient in English, French and Russian. They are the first two individuals on the European continent to be certified as Samurai Game® facilitators. They are also founders of Krakowskie Stowarzyszenie Aikido a martial arts school located at Ul. Lisa Ludwigsen

 

Lisa Ludwigsen, Founder of The School Garden Company www.SchoolGardenCo.com, holds a B.A. in Broadcast  Communication Arts from San Francisco State University.  She is a graduate of the Community Mentor Training Program at the Tracking Project in Corrales, NM, and the School of Embodied Leadership at Strozzi Institute.

 

From 1995 through 1997 Lisa owned and operated the Consumer Supported Agriculture farm.  In 1996 she began developing environmental education and science curricula
 

for youth.  In 2005 she founded The School Garden Company (SGC),  which manufactures  and sells organic and herbal body products.  SGC donates after tax profits to school garden programs in Sonoma County, California where the company is based.  Her company’s products have become known as refreshing fundraising alternatives for schools (all levels) and related clubs and teams. 

 

In addition to her responsibilities as owner of SGC, Ms. Ludwigsen provides unique interactive programs based on her area of study and used to enhance communication, teamwork and leadership.   In this capacity she is available to the public, non-profits, businesses, churches and companies.  She has repeatedly appeared as a guest on San Francisco’s KRON-TV, featured on programs highlighting the value of her expertise.
